well that was unpleasant
I've been riding my bike to work regularly since last October or so. Except for a brief hiatus when I sprained my ankle, I've been enjoying riding my bike to work whenever I can, which I figure is more than half the time. I keep an eye on the weather to try to stay dry. Until today, I'd never run into more than brief sprinkle of rain.

This morning, the forecast showed a mild "Mostly cloudy. Light winds." The rest of the week was nothing wetter than "chance of a shower". Great, no problem, so I rode my bike as usual. However, sometime late in the afternoon the wet clouds rolled in and started to dump rain on us. Looking outside my office, the sky was dark, visibility was low, and it was unmistakably wet. Fortunately, I keep my rain jacket with me for situations like this.

By the time I got home, I was completely soaked from the waist down. My jeans had sponged up half the rain that fell on me between work and home. My shoes were completely wet through (thank goodness for wool socks!). Clearly, I need to get some waterproof pants.

Aside from that, it wasn't bad riding in the rain. I just need the right gear and I can stay dry inside.

I had that happen a few months back. I had to ride home in the rain.

Unpleasant, but ultimately doable.
