From July 27 through 31, 1998, my family and I stayed at the Cougar Rock campground in Mount Rainier National Park. We spent the week hiking some of the trails around the Paradise and Longmire areas.

Most of the pictures on this page were taken with the camera in "normal" mode (instead of the "fine" mode which I normally use). I did this so I could take more pictures, but at the expense of some clarity in the images.

This small dragonfly was sitting quietly on the snow in the middle of a snowfield. The light was very bright up here, but the camera compensated. Maybe a bit too much.	My sister-in-law Michelle all dressed up for the occasion.	The canonical shot of Rainier.
Even with signs like this, you still see people tromping on the fragile alpine meadows. Don't do it!	A particularly menacing view of the Nisqually Glacier.	A shot of the thunderstorm that descended upon us. Shortly after this picture was taken you could see a fire that had been started by lightning.
One of the many tranquil alpine meadows found in the Indian Henry's Hunting Ground area.	Fog. This is likely a great view on some days.	This is an interesting combination of fog, forest, and flowers.
Not sure what kind of flowers these were, but they look nice.	Another random flower.	The west coast rainforests grow some pretty big trees.
