1. I don't have a Pilot. Where can I get a ROM file?

If you do not have a Pilot of your own, there is no legal way to obtain a ROM file for use with Copilot. One way to get a ROM file is to download it from somebody else's Pilot. There are no known copies of the Pilot ROM on the Internet.

2. Getrom/Getrom2 is not working. What other options are there?

If Getrom/Getrom2 does not appear to be working for you, there are two easy things to check:

If it still doesn't work, you have several choices, listed here from easiest to most difficult:

3. Copilot has caused an exception 03H...

This error is caused by running an old version of Copilot against a new ROM file. To fix this, you must download the latest version of Copilot and run the "getrom2" program to download the full 1 MB ROM file.

4. When Copilot starts it says "Pilot.ROM file not found".

After running getrom2, a Pilot2.ROM file is created. You will need to rename this to Pilot.ROM, because this is the ROM file that Copilot looks for when you start it for the first time. After Copilot has started you can change the name of the ROM file it loads.

5. After Copilot starts the display is blank.

Normally Copilot will display the PalmPilot startup screen when it is started. However, if you have only downloaded half your ROM file (512K when you should have downloaded 1 MB), then Copilot will only show a blank screen on startup. You need to run getrom2 to download the full 1 MB ROM file.
