Dataman was an educational toy calculator introduced by Texas Instruments in 1977.
It has an Answer Checker plus five arithmetic games:
This simulator is a reimplementation of Dataman in JavaScript.
Answer Checker is the default mode of Dataman when it is turned on. Enter a complete arithmetic expression of the form:
AA [+-×÷] BB = CC
Electro Flash is for practicing sequences of arithmetic questions such as times tables.
Press Electro Flash followed by a digit and an operator, or an operator then a digit. Then press GO.
Missing Number is for random "fill in the number" exercises.
Press [?] followed by an operator and either '1' or '2' for difficulty level. Press [?] again to move the blank position. Then press GO.
Wipe Out is an addition practice game for two or more players.
Press Wipe Out and then GO. Answer the question and pass Dataman to the next player. If you are holding Dataman when the random timer expires, you lose.
Number Guesser presents an upper and lower bound, and asks the player to guess a secret number between the two.
Force Out is a game for two players.
Starting with a random number, the players take turns subtracting a number. The player who subtracts the last number and reaches zero, loses the game.
