ideas that don't pan out
About two years ago I was playing with NOAA Weather Radio, specifically regarding receiving and processing the incoming data stream with my computer. I was able to receive two different weather radio stations from my location in Round Rock, TX. I had made these audio streams available for anybody to listen to, and had received some great positive feedback.

Somewhere along the way I had the great idea to scale this up to cover the whole of the US and Canada. Many independent people could set up receiver stations using my software (or any equivalent software), and make the audio stream available for anybody to listen to. With enough coverage, you could instantly listen to a live weather radio feed from just about anywhere in the continent.

Like all great ideas that haven't been implemented yet, I needed to choose a domain name. The NOAA had recently changed the official name of the weather radio to NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, so I registered This was intended to be a common place where people could find internet rebroadcasts of local weather radio.

Now it's two years later and I'm no longer living anywhere near a NOAA transmitter, so I'm a bit less motivated to follow through with the idea. The domain expires today and I don't plan to renew it. However, I still think it's a good idea for somebody to set up (any takers? I'll transfer the domain name to you!).
I am trying to offload as many of my 'hobbies' as I can at the moment. But it is a good idea, and if you wanted access to a radio signal again Id be happy to set one up here.
