I must think or say that (yes, out loud, at those in the cars near me) a dozen times daily.

It's illegal in some states to drive without a handsfree mic/speaker, and I think that's a good thing.

I saw a COP doing this the other day!!! While driving his squad car! Grr.

depends on how competent/trained the cop is. Like I have said before, some people can/are trained to maintain adequate situational awareness while multitasking as the operator of the vehicle (car, boat, or plane).
