An alternate way of getting the PalmPilot ROM file is to use the TRG SETUP.ZIP program. Alex Tang has kindly written a description of exactly how to do this.
I have successfully downloaded the image using the TRGSuperPilot Setup.zip file.
It was very simple, All you have to do is:
- download and extract the zip file
- install the Trgflash.prc file onto the pilot
- quit hotsync manager
- Run "Setup.exe", which will take you through a few steps. It tells you to do the steps 2 and 3 from above, then run the "TRGFlash" application on the Pilot
- In the "Download Page", select a name for the "IMG" file (which is the same as pilot.rom) and click on "Download".
- After the download is complete, quit the installer application (don't go any further in the installation process or you risk erasing stuff from your pilot).
- Move the newly created rom image file wherever it needs to go.
I did an MD5 checksum on my new pilot.rom file, and matched the checksum to one I found in an email message I saw on the web from Ian Goldberg on the Pilot-Unix mail list. The MD5 checksums matched:
MD5(palmpilot.rom)= eeb3ffc62e719adcc7000aebc87ae84e
